Red Inferno Handblown Glass Sculpture
Details
This large glass sculpture is composed of four hand-blown glass forms fused to construct the artwork. Each part is made using hot-glass techniques, infused with color, and manipulated, much like an abstract painter creates a composition. Allowing hot glass to behave characteristically, the sculpted forms reveal the movement of lines and shapes of floating colors. The base is an inverted yellow bowl with a swirling stripe of red. The tall body is red, featuring floating orange, yellow, and black organic shapes. The clear glass collar is a faceted ring connecting the body to a yellow orb covered in swirling accents of red and orange. At the top are 6 straight rods of yellow glass placed vertically, contrasting the softly shaped forms.
