Winter Storm Handblown Glass Sculpture
Details
This tall glass sculpture is composed of four handblown glass forms fused to construct the artwork. Each part is made using hot-glass techniques, infused with color, and manipulated, much like an abstract painter creates a composition. Allowing hot glass to behave characteristically, the sculpted forms reveal the movement of lines and shapes of floating colors. The base is an inverted white bowl with a thin swirling stripe of black. The body is white, featuring a small cluster of floating orange, pink, dark mauve, and black rings moving across the form. A bright red glass collar ring connects the body to a black orb that has a white stripe swirl. At the top are 6 straight rods of black glass that have a small bead at their tips.
