Details

This large, handblown glass vessel features a deep blue body with a pattern of multicolored vertical stripes and dots. The foot is solid metallic green and violet metallic with a matte finish. The wide, flared rim has an iridescent edge that shimmers with purple and green. The interior is a strong glossy ruby red. Different minerals make different colors when doing hot-glass techniques: cobalt is blue, copper carbonate is green, and manganese dioxide is purple.
