Benjamin Blue Handblown Glass Sculpture

Details

This glass sculpture is composed of three handblown glass forms fused to construct the artwork. Each part is made using hot-glass techniques, infused with color, and manipulated, much like an abstract painter creates a composition. Allowing hot glass to behave characteristically, the sculpted forms reveal the movement of lines and shapes of floating colors. The base is a thick disc of glass densely patterned with green, red, orange, and black. The dark blue-grey body features floating orange, green, red, and yellow elongated shapes moving across the form. Two glass rings, one lime green and one red, connect the body to an orb that is densely marbled with shades of green, red, orange, and black. At the top are the tips of 3 straight rods of orange glass.
