Benjamin Red Handblown Glass Sculpture

Details

This glass sculpture is composed of three handblown glass forms fused to construct the artwork. Each part is made using hot-glass techniques, infused with color, and manipulated, much like an abstract painter creates a composition. Allowing hot glass to behave characteristically, the sculpted forms reveal the movement of lines and shapes of floating colors. The base is a thick disc of glass densely patterned with yellow, red, and black. The red-orange body features floating orange, yellow, red, and black lines and elongated shapes moving across the form. A black glass ring connects the body to a yellow orb that is marbled with red and black. Inserted at the top is one thick red glass rod.
