Check Mate Bunny

Details

This sculpture is a freestanding rabbit bust overlaid with beautiful beads and crystals of various shapes and sizes. The artist meticulously replicates the natural flow of rabbit fur in her directional placement of the beads and includes glass eyes for realism.

Checkmate Bunny’s cheeks and edges of his ears are composed from horizontally and vertically layered glass beads in a black and white checkerboard pattern. Hand-beaded patterns employing pink, blue, yellow, and orange frame a faceted orange crystal on his forehead. The intricate beadwork continues on his back against a white seed bead background, displaying radial mandala patterns, incorporating large turquoise teardrop beads, and circular cabochons. A thick collar of green faceted crystals and metallic enamel floral charms are incorporated into a fringe of looped multicolored cords.

Care and Use

Handle with extreme care. Keep out of direct, harsh sunlight to prevent fading of the sequins and fabric. To clean, do not use any liquid cleaners or damp cloths; simply dust very gently with a soft, clean, dry bristle brush to navigate the intricate beadwork, sequins, and mixed media attachments.
